FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
Who do you work with?
I work exclusively with airline pilots and their families. This specialization means I understand the unique pay structures, benefits, retirement timelines, and financial challenges that come with a career in commercial aviation.
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. I'm an independent, fiduciary financial advisor. That means I'm legally bound to act in your best interest — not sell products or earn commissions. My advice is objective and aligned solely with your goals.
What does it cost to work with you?
I offer a free introductory call so we can see if there's a fit. Fee structures vary based on services and are always transparent. I'll never surprise you with hidden costs.
I'm early in my career — is it too soon to start planning?
Absolutely not. The earlier you start, the more options you have. First Officers who begin planning early can take advantage of decades of compound growth and set themselves up for a much smoother path to retirement.
What's a 401(k) analysis?
I'll review your current 401(k) statements, look at how your money is allocated, identify gaps or missed opportunities, and give you a clear picture of where you stand relative to your retirement goals — all at no cost.
Do you manage investments?
Yes. I provide full investment management services, including portfolio construction, asset allocation, and ongoing rebalancing — all designed around the unique income patterns and retirement timelines of airline pilots.
Can you help with Roth conversions?
Absolutely. Roth conversion strategy is one of the most impactful tax planning moves for pilots, especially during lower-income years or during the transition to retirement. I build multi-year conversion plans tailored to your situation.
What airlines do your clients fly for?
I serve pilots from FedEx, Southwest, Delta, United, American Airlines, UPS, and other commercial carriers. The specific airline matters because each has different benefit structures, 401(k) options, and retirement plans.
Do I need to be local to work with you?
No. I work with pilots nationwide. Everything is done virtually — video calls, secure document sharing, and online planning tools. Your schedule is unpredictable enough; I make the process easy.
What's the difference between you and my airline's retirement resources?
Your airline provides information. I provide strategy and ongoing guidance. The free resources from your airline or union are a good start, but they can't give you personalized, fiduciary advice that considers your complete financial picture.
